Craig Jacobson

Craig Jacobson was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. After graduating, Mr. Jacobson moved to Washington, D.C., where he worked for five years. During his time in Washington he worked as a speechwriter for the head of the AFl-CIO Building and Trades Department and as a legal intern to the General Counsel of the AFl-CIO. Mr. Jacobson received his Juris Doctor with Honors from George Washington University Law School.


Mr. Jacobson began his career in Los Angeles at Shagin & Myman. He then moved to Slaff, Mosk & Rudman and ultimately joined Pollock, Bloom and Dekom, where he became a partner. Mr. Jacobson founded the law firm which bears his name with Tom Hansen and Walter Teller.


Jacobson's law practice encompasses many aspects of the media business, including motion pictures, television and digital media. This practice involves the representation of individual talent that includes directors, writers, actors, and producers as well as numerous production and other corporate entities. Mr. Jacobson acts as an advisor to media executives and has helped structure the sale of a variety of media based companies. Mr. Jacobson was one of the founders of New Form Digital, formerly a venture with Discovery Media and ITV, which produced scripted short form content for the Web.


Mr. Jacobson also started Whisper Advisors, a boutique investment banking/advisory company. Mr. Jacobson is on the Board of Directors of Expedia and Oaktree Strategic Lending / Oaktree Strategic Income. He sits on the Audit and Compensation Committees of Expedia and OCSL/OCSI. He has previously served on the boards of Charter Communications, Tribune, Ticketmaster, prior to its merger with Live Nation, and the private companies, Eventful and Aver Media. Mr. Jacobson also served on the Board of Trustees of the University of Southern California's Fine Arts School. With his wife, Lynn, the Jacobsons have endowed a scholarship at Brown University and are supporters of Step Up Tutoring and the Los Angeles chapter of Teach for America. Mr. Jacobson is the father of boy/girl twins and a daughter. Mr. Jacobson is an avid collector of contemporary art and, with Lynn, lives in Santa Monica, CA.
