Sonya Mitchell

Sonya Mitchell Seif is an associate at Hansen Jacobson. She joined the firm in 2020 and never looked back. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Sonya forever felt a pull toward the world of entertainment and is right at home championing and supporting content creators. Sonya represents a variety of digital and traditional talent, and enjoys sitting at the junction of client service, deal making, brand building and problem solving. She is grateful that her core traits – passionate, assertive, caring, detail-oriented and forward thinking – are the qualities that make her a fierce advocate for her clients.  

Previously, Sonya was a corporate attorney at Skadden Arps in New York City representing investment banks, private equity sponsors and other corporate clients in a range of capital markets transactions, including taking several companies public. As part of the IPO process, Sonya helped her clients hone in on the unique and authentic power of their business in order to convey their story and value proposition in a written prospectus. Today, Sonya utilizes those skills in helping her clients differentiate, describe, and ultimately realize the vision for their body of work and related brands.

Sonya grew up as the middle child between two strong sisters and spent her childhood learning to be a skillful, scrappy and savvy persuader, and consummate negotiator. Sonya went to high-school at Harvard-Westlake and holds a BA from the University of Southern California, where she graduated summa cum laude and majored in communication and minored in film. Upon graduating college, she went directly to NYU Law where she earned a Juris Doctor.

When living in New York, Sonya took improv classes at Upright Citizens Brigade. That experience provides her with an ability to seamlessly pivot, and react quickly to her clients’ bespoke, timely, and changing needs.

Outside of the office, Sonya is committed to spending time with her husband Matt, their daughter Shay and rescue pup Bennie and cooking gourmet meals for their families and long-standing friends. Sonya can be known to make an epic travel itinerary, take a game night a little too seriously, and be loyal to a fault. She wears these badges with honor.
